Trading the Yield Curve Via Interest Rate Futures | Closing the Gap: Futures Edition

16:20
Get an introduction to what the Yield Curve of Interest Rate futures plots, how to set up trades based on your outlook of changing rates, and how to add a /GC position to enhance your trading strategy! See more videos from the Closing the Gap: Futures Edition Series: http://ow.ly/Tv73h Interest Rate Futures allow traders to make plays on varying treasury durations and their current and future yields/rate changes. The TUT Spread is an important gauge using the 10 Year Notes (/ZN) and the 2 Year Notes (/ZT). It is used as a potential indicator of how interest rates might change in the future and of current and future economic conditions. Subtracting the Ten Year Yield from the 2 Year Yield, historically, the difference right now is at the lower end of its range. In order to trade these types of extremes on the yield curve, hedge ratios must be used to create a neutral position (because of the varying maturities). This is calculated using the delta of a bond, which is also called the dollar-value of a basis point (DV01). Find out how to create these neutral positions in order to play the "flattening" or "steepening" of the yield curve, and discover how adding Gold Futures (/GC) to the position can enhance returns and provide protection if directionally wrong. Dividend Yield Explained

04:54
This video will teach you what dividend yield is, how to calculate it and why it's important. Dividend yield is the dividend, relative to the price of the investment. What are dividends? Check out the previous video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8s_8O99dNC0 Twitter: https://twitter.com/MrSoniBros Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/mrsonibros Didn't hear me properly? This is what I was saying: Today we're going to be learning what dividend yield is. We already know what a dividend is from the previous video, now we just need to know the yield part. If you don't know what a dividend is, just click on the word dividend to watch the previous video, and then come back to this video. Let's use the hypothetical company from the last video, Soni's Shawarma. Soni's Shawarma is a restaurant chain that has thousands of restaurants across the country, and obviously, sells shawarmas. Soni's Shawarma pays a quarterly dividend of $0.25. Which means in a year, it pays a total dividend of a dollar, since 25 cents every 3 months adds up to a dollar every year. So we know how much Soni's Shawarma pays in dividends for every share that we own, but we don't know how much it costs to buy one share of Soni's Shawarma. What if I told you that one share of Soni's Shawarma costs $1000. Yes, $1000 to buy 1 share of Soni's Shawarma, and it only pays us one dollar in dividends every year. What if I told you that one share of Soni's Shawarma costs only $20. $20 for one share, and it pays us one dollar in dividends every year. Which one would you rather pick? I would pick the $20 share that pays me $1, instead of the $1000 dollar share that pays me $1. Why, because it has a greater yield! Yield is simply the dividends we get, relative to the price of the share. That's not a dictionary definition, it's my definition for this case. So now let's calculate the yield of these two options, let's start with the $1000 share. If one share of Soni's Shawarma costs $1000 and In one year, it gives us one dollar, the annual dividend is one dollar. So to calculate the yield, we need to take the dividend, and divide it by the price. So the dividend of one dollar, divided by the price of $1000, equals 0.001, which can also be expressed as 0.1%. So the dividend yield in this case is 0.1%. Now let's move on to the next case. If one share of Soni's Shawarma costs $20 and in one year, it gives us one dollar, the annual dividend is one dollar. Just like before, to calculate the yield, we take the dividend and divide it by the price. So the dividend which is one dollar, divided by the price, which is $20, equals 0.05, which is another way of saying 5%. So that's dividend yield, the dividend relative to the price. The $20 share has a yield of 5%, that means I'll be getting 5% of the money I paid every year. It means 5% of the price, will be paid to me in dividends. With the $1000 share which has a yield of 0.1%, it means I'll be getting 0.1% of the money I paid, every year. It means 0.1% of the price, will be paid to me in dividends. So which one would you rather pick? Would you rather have your dividends equal 5% of the price you paid, or would you rather have them equal only 0.1% of the price you paid. I would rather have them equal 5% of the price I paid, because I get more money relative to the price I paid. If we're only looking at dividends, paying $20 to get an annual dividend of $1, is better than paying $1000 to get that same annual dividend of $1. Remember, stock prices change every day, so that means, dividend yield will also change every day. If its $20 to buy a share that has an annual dividend of $1, it has a yield of 5%. If tomorrow, the price of that same share goes up to $21, then we divide 1 by 21 to get a yield of 4.76%. So as prices change, so does the yield, as dividends change, so does the yield. So now you know what dividend yield is, how to calculate it, and why it's important. If you liked this video, please make sure to hit that subscribe button. Thank you.

Dividend Yield Explained: What is Dividend Yield?

10:02
The #dividend #yield is simply the sum of a company's annual dividend payments dividend by its share price represented as a percentage. It represents the dividend-only return of a stock investment. As you may have noticed from this formula, assuming that the dividend is not raised or lowered, the yield will rise when the price of the stock falls, and it will fall when the price of the stock rises. Because the dividend yield changes with the stock's price, it often looks unusually high for stocks that are falling quickly. This point leads us to an important distinction that can often confuse investors: dividend yield vs. yield on cost. Yield on cost takes the current dividend payout and divides it by the purchase price of the investment (i.e., the cost of the investment). If several investments over time have been made into a particular stock, the purchase price is calculated as the weighted average purchase price (commonly referred to as the cost basis). When comparing dividend yields between various securities, it is vital that you ensure you are comparing data from the same time periods in order to ensure a fair assessment. For example, some financial websites report the dividend yield based on the sum of the trailing twelve-month dividend payments whereas others simply use the most recent dividend payment and annualize it. Still others use the most recent declared dividend payment (but which has not yet been paid) and annualize that number (often referred to as the forward dividend yield). Finally, some companies pay out what are referred to as “special dividends” which are often irregular in frequency and size and are therefore classified differently from the more consistent quarterly or monthly dividends that a company pays out. Therefore, it is important to check for these as well as some websites include them in determining the dividend yield while others do not. Capital gains also influence returns. Stock prices rise for two main reasons: increased earnings power and increased market sentiment. Every dollar of profit that a company retains (i.e., does not pay in dividends to its shareholders) is a dollar that it can reinvest to grow its business’ future earnings and/or repurchase outstanding shares, which has a similar effect of increasing earnings per share. As the earnings power of each share increases, so does its capacity to pay out more dividends in the future to shareholders, thereby increasing its value. Over the long-term, this causes the share price to rise, producing additional returns beyond dividends known as capital gains. In addition to rising earnings power, an improved perception of the company’s long-term growth potential, competitiveness, viability, or stability can cause its valuation multiple (i.e., the current share price divided by the earnings per share) to expand since its earnings per share are considered to be of higher quality than they were previously when its future outlook was bleaker. For these reasons, it is important for investors to not simply focus on investments that offer the highest dividend yields. While high dividend yields do mean higher short term cash income, yields that are too high often place an excessive burden on companies since they do not retain enough cash flows to continue to grow and strengthen their business. As a result, they may be unable to compete with faster growing competitors that retain and reinvest more of their earnings and lose market share as a result. A classic recent example of this principle was a real estate investment trust (REIT) called Uniti Group (UNIT). It was paying out nearly all of its earnings, leaving little left over for growth investments. As a result, it failed to adequately diversify its assets away from its primary tenant (Windstream). While it paid out a dividend that yielded in the teens and the business metrics appeared sound, when its primary tenant declared bankruptcy a month ago, Uniti Group was left with little choice but to dramatically cut its dividend and shareholders saw the market price of their shares get cut in half. In hindsight, it would have been far better for the company to pay a lower dividend yield and invest more of its earnings into growing the business to the point where the Windstream bankruptcy would not have caused such a shock to its business model. To review, the dividend yield is a reflection of the forward dividend return that a certain investment will provide at its current price. However, there are numerous ways of determining dividend payout, so investors should check the company’s dividend data for themselves when comparing dividend yields between different investment options. Additionally, dividends are not the only source of investment return and in fact can often seduce investors into picking high risk investments, so it is prudent to conduct a holistic analysis of a business rather than just picking it based on the attractiveness of its dividend yield.

Trading Options in "Growth" and "Yield" Stocks | What Else Ya Got

12:14
See how the amount of premium in the options compares for Growth and Yield underlyings! Check out more options trading videos: http://ow.ly/FCsXY We have often seen that there is a lower amount of premium available for value or yield stocks than is normally available for growth stocks. This is due to the assumption that a value stock will have lower volatility than a younger growth stock. Knowing this, is there any additional information that we can gain from the value of the options? Today, Tom Sosnoff and Tony Battista see how the premium in options on growth companies compares to the premium in options on value companies. As expected, the premium is higher for growth companies as they are expected to experience larger moves. Then, the guys take it one step further to see if there is any edge to trading these underlyings in different periods of Implied Volatility. Nobody rants like these ex-floor traders. Terpinator Overview - Maximum Yield Trade Show Los Angeles

http://hydroselect.com/product/terpinator/ Want to know where to get Terpinator... give us a call toll free 1(844) 493-7677 In this video Andrew from Left Coast Wholesale give us a run down of Terpinator. We ask... What does Terpinator do? Andrew: Basically, what the name is referring to is terpenes. Terpenes, there’s about 200,000 of them that have been identified in the plant world. They’re basically responsible for all smells, all flavors, resin content. You know when you smell a pine tree, what you’re actually smelling is alpha-pinene. It’s a terpene. When you’re smelling like a citrus tree, what you’re smelling is limonene. It’s a terpene. Linalool is the one in lavender. Basically, your plants are going to be producing these smells anyways. What this does is it actually increases the amount of them and the concentration of them. Then we ask how to use it... Andrew "There’s a couple of different ways you can use the Terpinator. One of the ways that you might want to use it as when you run during veg, you want to do about 7 to 10 days before you’re going to go into flowering. Run in about 10 ml per gallon or 2.5 ml per liter. You might need a inference. Basically, what happens then is you’re going to get it into the cellular tissue of the plants. So when you do flip into flowering, it’s going to already be there and when you start gland production, it’s going to actually physically increase the amount of glands you’re going to produce. That’s kind of why you want to run it during veg. We’re running it through flowering, I recommend up to 15 ml to 20 ml per gallon, and then we get two weeks. I like to spike it up maybe 25 ml to 30 ml per gallon. And then you can reset totally safe to run all the way through flower and you can cut it out a week before if you want to do that to make sure. ---------- Working in the garden creating a healthy harvest provides you with a sense of achievement and feelings of success. December 04, 2018.... The yield curve inversion is the first since 2007 and it implies a recession in the US economy could be on the horizon. The Federal Reserve will now have to tread with more caution in both action and rhetoric moving forward regarding interest rates or risk a continuation breakdown in the stock market. We continue to hold and look to buy gold stocks and well as silver as a hedge against a slowdown in the economy. Join Free! 14 Day Free Trial Final Days! US Treasury Futures: Intro to the Yield Curve | Closing the Gap: Futures Edition

11:37
The yield curve is a graphical representation of various bond maturities and their current rate of returns. Historically, the longer dated the maturity, the higher the returns will be, which tends to create an upward trajectory to the curve. When various interest rates change, the curve can flatten or steepen. These changes can provide futures traders with opportunities in US Treasuries. Today, tastytrade examine the current stay of the yield curve, paying particular attention to the far end contracts like /ZB and /UB (the "Classic" and "Ultra" bonds, respectively). Tune in as they present trade ideas based off of current yield curve extremes as well as their assumptions for future rate changes. DIVIDEND INVESTING EXPLAINED

31:47
Today's video truly explains the power of #dividend #stock #investing! I'm excited to share with you a financial model that I personally leverage when deciding which dividend stocks to buy (given my investment horizon in years). In other words, if I know when I want to tap into my dividend income, my stock selection will actually change quite a bit. I'm excited: I'll actually be creating a new dividend stock portfolio soon to pay for Hawaii vacations (right NOW). (This will be different than my 40-stock portfolio I have already been building for many years to pay day-to-day living expenses.) As I construct this new portfolio, I will be very clear to take my time frame (immediate cash flow) into account. In today's investing video, learn how to model dividend growth investing scenarios through the lens of three companies: Disney (DIS), 3M (MMM), and Duke (DUK). Want to follow along at home? A DIVIDEND VALUE STOCK I'M BUYING IN 2019 (that could yield 20% on cost in 10 years)

23:12
I'm buying a #dividend #stock right now (a top 15 stock for me) that I believe could yield 20% on cost (not counting reinvested dividends) within 10 years. It's a rare case where a stock has a very high starting yield coupled with a rapid dividend growth rate. I look forward to sharing this stock along with my overall portfolio strategy in today's #investing video. I start with a subscriber question: Why is it that most of my top 10 stocks are low yielders? Is it because they are premium stocks (and always fairly or over valued) or is it because they have high dividend growth rates? It's actually a bit of both. Learn more in today's video: * Overall portfolio current yield is 3.89% * Top 10 yield is 3.15% * 11-39 yield is 4.42% Next, I share a tale of two stocks: 3M (MMM) vs. Southern (SO). MMM, my #10 favorite stock of all time, has a low starting dividend yield with a high dividend growth rate. SO has a high starting dividend yield with a low dividend growth rate. See a comparison of these two stocks from various investment time horizons. If one needs cash flow immediately and cannot wait at least 5 years, SO will likely generate more dividend income. If one has some time on their hands, the opportunity for a really high yield on cost comes with MMM. I tend to skew towards companies like MMM because I have some time on my hands and want to maximize my yield on cost. That said, I also like to invest in companies like SO to generate some current yield. What if my plans change and I need cash flow now? I love having some extra current income to help me sleep well at night and keep me in the game. MMM: * 2.78% current dividend yield * 16% dividend CAGR * Projected dividend yield on cost 5 years out: 5.84% * 10 years out: 12.26% SO: * 5.05% current dividend yield * 3.4% dividend CAGR * Projected dividend yield on cost 5 years out: 5.97% * 10 years out: 7.05% Next, I transition into a stock that enjoys the best of worlds, a high starting yield and a high dividend growth rate. I'm talking about Altria (MO). I'm buying this one right now and believe that it could possibly see a 20% yield on cost 10 years out. Here are the stats: MO: * 7.23% current dividend yield * 12.7% dividend CAGR * Projected dividend yield 5 years out: 13.14% * 10 years out: 23.90% Of course, I'm assuming that the last 5 years CAGR will hold up, and that's a big assumption. 5 Best Dividend Stocks to Buy in 2019 [6%+ Dividend Yields]

14:01
I’m revealing the best dividend stocks for 2019 and it might surprise you that they aren’t actually dividend paying stocks. These special types of companies are the highest paying dividend stocks but cannot be valued the same way. It’s one of the biggest misconceptions with REITs and MLPs and I see investors try to use the price-earnings ratio all the time. You can’t use common stock valuation techniques when looking at REIT investing or MLPs. In this video, I’ll walk you through the basics of these two types of dividend paying stocks from how they differ with other stocks to how much you can make and the risks involved. I’ll also reveal special metrics to value these companies and the best dividend stocks to buy in each group. Invest on a no fee website like M1 Finance and save thousands on commissions. I use M1 for the no-cost and easy automatic investing in my portfolio. Get a special bonus offer with this link https://mystockmarketbasics.com/joinm1finance REITs and MLPs are some of the best dividend stocks for your portfolio because not only do they pay higher dividend yields than other stocks, they also protect your portfolio from a financial crash. These aren’t like other companies. They own real assets that hold their value and spin off an amazing amount of cash flow. There are some risks involved though with these types of dividend stocks and you can’t treat them like normal stock dividends. I’ll walk through all the risks and differences in the video as well as how to find the best stocks to buy. Step by Step Dividend Investing – Get paid to invest! How to find income investments for fast cash flow and create passive income with dividends, REITs and MLPs with this book. http://amzn.to/2aLpFcs One last note is that the tax benefits on these two types of dividend stocks are different as well. You shouldn’t hold MLPs in a tax-advantaged retirement investing account while REITs are perfect investments for a retirement account along with other high dividend paying stocks. I go into detail on this in the video so be sure to watch it all the way through. When you’re done, check out this video on dividend stocks for beginners that will show you how to pick dividend stocks https://youtu.be/tKVVkQTpC7c This next one is a can’t-miss dividend investing video where I reveal the warning signs of a dividend cut and when to sell a dividend stock https://youtu.be/eRlSRYJ9qTM 0:55 REIT Investing vs Dividend Stocks vs MLPs 1:40 Why You Cannot Use the PE Ratio with these Dividend Stocks 2:15 MLP Investing 7:57 What are REITs 11:30 Best REIT Dividend Stocks SUBSCRIBE to create the financial future you deserve with videos on beating debt, making more money and making your money work for you. https://peerfinance101.com/FreeMoneyVideos YouTube Community Exclusive: 55% Off my Goals-Based Investing Strategy Course! Inverted Yield Curve? Secrets of The Yield Curve | Yield Curve Explained

06:16
Get rid of your FOMO in your trading with our free guide: https://macro-ops.com/fomo/ ***This video is sponsored by Real Vision*** Today we’re going to talk about the yield curve. Recently the financial media has been raving about the yield curve getting closer and closer to inverting and how it’s a signal that a recession is right around the corner. In this video we’re going to go over what the yield curve is, how to use it, and what it’s really signalling about the market. The yield curve is basically just a line that plots the yield of US treasury bonds (TLT) with different maturity dates. The curve lets you easily compare rates on short term bonds versus long term bonds. When long term bonds are yielding more than short term bonds, the line rises from left to right. And when this is the case, it’s called a normal yield curve. This is a signal that the economy and market are doing okay. When you start to see the yield curve flatten or even invert, meaning short-term rates become equal to or higher than long-term rates, and the line either becomes flat or sloped lower from left to right, then that usually signals trouble ahead in terms of a recession and lower market prices. Two things happen for the yield curve to become like this. First, the Fed starts raising short-term rates. Based on their mandates, they may see the economy overheating and decide to raise rates to slow it down. Higher rates hurt economic expansions. Second, investor expectations for the future become negative. And because of that, they buy up long-term bonds, lowering their yield. Those two together you a flat or inverted yield curve where short term bonds yield the same or even more than long-term bonds. And like this signals trouble ahead.
